The General Secretariat of the League of Arab States expressed on Friday its astonishment at the position of the European Parliament to hold the Kingdom of Morocco responsible in the immigration issue, citing an “unwanted politicization” of this issue.

In a press release, the League of Arab States believes that “the equitable monitoring of Moroccan policies confirms that the Kingdom is adopting responsible positions on the issue of immigration in the western Mediterranean region, reflecting a political will” initiated on royal instructions to cope with the migration crisis.

In this sense, she recalled the recent Royal decision to facilitate the return of unaccompanied Moroccan minors in an irregular situation in certain countries of the European Union and whose identity has been clearly established.

For the Arab League, “the position of the European Parliament reflects an undesirable politicization of the migration issue (…) because complex migration issues require cooperation and concerted efforts between the different countries, in order to deal with them within a global framework that takes into account consideration of their various aspects ”.

Calling on the European side to adopt practical positions which strengthen cooperation and joint coordination between the countries of origin and reception of migrants, the League maintained that the Kingdom of Morocco has always been a responsible partner for Europeans in this area. .
