The jurors of the Pulitzer Prize, the most prestigious competition in the world of journalism in the United States, rewarded Darnella Frazier, for having filmed the scene which revealed to the world the police and racist violence in the United States and, which allowed to do justice to George Floyd who died below the knee of police officer Dereck Chavin.
The 18-year-old American who filmed the arrest and murder of George Floyd in the city of Minneapolis in May 2020, was awarded this award for her contribution to committed journalism.
Jurors emphasized the role of citizens in enabling journalists to do their job of restoring truth and justice. Darnella Frazier, had testified after the death of George Floyd of the impact that this scene had on his life.
