The head of Moroccan diplomacy Nasser Bourita, reaffirmed Friday the position of neutrality, but also of unlimited support of Morocco in the Libyan file, during a joint press conference with his Libyan counterpart, Najla Mangoush, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , African Cooperation and Moroccans Living Abroad in Rabat.
“Morocco has no agenda, no solutions, no vision of the Libyan crisis”, declared Nasser Bourita affirming that the only mission of Morocco is to bring “an unconditional and unlimited support to all that is likely to to serve Libya and the Libyans ”.
The head of Moroccan diplomacy, who had previously met representatives of the Libyan Parliament visiting Rabat, told his counterpart that Morocco’s sole conviction, and Morocco’s sole objective is to see “this situation, that neither the Libyan people nor their institutions deserve to end ”.
In the same line adopted by Moroccan diplomacy since the beginning of its non-intrusive mediation mission advocating an inter-Libyan solution to the conflict, Nasser Bourita affirmed that Morocco is “totally convinced that the Libyans, who are animated by wisdom, will arrive to get their country out of this situation ”.
“Even though Libya is going through a delicate phase, Morocco remains optimistic that the country will move forward on the right track”, declared the Moroccan diplomat after his talks with his counterpart who was on his first official visit to the Kingdom. .
Morocco has distinguished itself in its role of peace mediator in the Libyan conflict, welcoming all parties so that they themselves find solutions to their problems without any foreign interference and without there being strategic issues à la carte.
Morocco as a host country with no agenda in Libya has been a key partner in Libyan reconciliation supported by the UN, already in 2015 with the Skhirate conference, but also in recent years with the reception in Bouznika and Tangier Libyan Parliamentarians who managed to agree on the process of appointing positions of responsibility and strategic institutions of the country.
This visit by Najla Mangoush is part of the line of continuous communication between the Kingdom and the Libyan institutions, in accordance with the High Royal Guidelines consisting in supporting the political process of the country, with a view to achieving stability and development, a recalled the Moroccan minister.
Regarding the situation in the neighboring country, Mr. Bourita estimated that Libya was currently in a “better context” which allows it to have all the conditions to get the country out of the crisis it has been going through for several years. This will allow Libyans to live within the framework of unified institutions, he noted.
The two ministers discussed several subjects of common interest, in particular in the religious and security fields, on their “strong” bilateral relations, at the cultural and human levels, and ways of activating some of their aspects as soon as possible. , underlined Mr. Bourita.
On the other hand, they agreed to hold, soon, a meeting of the joint consular commission, in order to settle a number of consular issues of Moroccans in Libya and Libyans in the Kingdom, as well as the organization of the second edition of the forum. Moroccan-Libyan economy.
