Eid al-Fitr celebrated in two days for lack of agreement on the observation of the lunar crescent

The end of Ramadan records differences in Senegal over the announcement of the day of Eid Al-Fitr (Korité) celebrated this Wednesday by part of the Muslim community, while the majority of Muslims in the country continue to fast .

In a statement made public on Tuesday evening, the lunar crescent observation commission of the Coordination of Muslims in Senegal (CMS) assured that the moon had been seen in Mali, Niger and Côte d ‘ivory, and in other countries.

Therefore, CMS slice, Wednesday May 12, 2021 will be the 1st of the lunar month of Chawal 1442 Hegira.

For its part, the National Consultative Commission on the Lunar Crescent, made up of imams and ulemas as well as representatives of different religious families in Senegal, will meet Wednesday evening in the premises of public television “RTS” to observe the lunar crescent and announce, probably, the end of Ramadan and the celebration of Kority on Thursday.
