A network of actors for the promotion of the culture of human rights through the cinema was born at the end of a recent meeting organized by the ARMCDH for the presentation of the first guide for the promotion of the culture of rights. of Man and of citizenship.
This meeting, which saw in particular the participation of associations and clubs of citizenship and human rights and film critics, was conducive to give the floor to the various contributors to the guide in order to speak about the dynamics of awareness. human rights through culture and also on the content of the guide.
On this occasion, there was also the creation of a network of actors for the promotion of the culture of human rights via the cinema whose coordination is ensured by the ARMCDH (association of the Mediterranean meetings of the cinema and the human rights) and who will take care to organize other meetings to develop the actions of the network.
It should be remembered that the guide for the promotion of human rights through cinema was initiated within the framework of the project “Cinema platform for education in human rights and citizenship” (2018-2021) funded by the European Union and the Embassy of the Netherlands.
Before closing the meeting, the various actors, including in particular the lawyer Mustapha Naoui, Abdelali Maalmi responsible for the central committee for human rights education, at the Ministry of National Education and Fouad Chafiqui, director of curricula at the ministry of National Education, formulated a number of recommendations to consolidate and support the actions of citizenship and human rights clubs and debates screenings.
These recommendations mainly relate to the establishment of a legal framework for the intervention of citizenship and human rights clubs with organizational circulars, etc., the support of citizenship clubs in terms of logistics and organization, the development of an appendix to the guide which explains the concepts relating to citizenship and the principles of human rights accompanied by examples and the development of a regional directory of actors in the field of cinema who can intervene with clubs citizenship and human rights.
It also involves the organization of training based on the guide in order to put the guide into practice and improve it on the basis of each other’s experiences, the establishment of a work ethics charter for actors in the promotion of the culture of human rights through the cinema and in particular with regard to the relationship with the public and, lastly, the call to the ARMCDH in order to invest and carry this dynamic in the most remote areas of Morocco.
