Morocco and Wallonia-Brussels join forces to boost the generalization of preschool

The generalization of preschool was elevated to the rank of national priority by King Mohammed VI, who had called in a message on the occasion of the National Day of Preschool Education (July 2018), to make preschool “the pillar on which the new Moroccan School must be built, insofar as it constitutes the basis of a quality education ”.

To this end, and within the framework of the strengthening of bilateral cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in the field of education and training, the Minister of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, Said Amzazi, and the Minister-President of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation, Pierre-Yves Jeholet, looked into the question during a virtual meeting on Tuesday.

The two managers thus attempted to identify ways and means to intensify collaborations in the areas of initial and continuing training of teachers and preschool supervisory staff, teaching of languages ​​and cultures and improvement of working conditions. ‘reception of children with specific needs.

They subsequently signed a Collaboration Agreement to support the generalization in Morocco of quality preschool, improve the teaching of languages ​​and cultures and strengthen skills for sustainable co-development.

To this end, Amzazi welcomed the start of the CAAPPP joint training program for the first 300 Moroccan preschool inspectors, organized by Belgian schools in Morocco, in partnership with the Department of National Education and the 12 Regional Academies of Education and of Training, and led by a team of experts from the Inspectorate of Fundamental Education, French-speaking Belgian Universities and Hautes Écoles Pédagogiques. Following the training, which combines seminars, observation internships in Belgian schools and workshops for the production of multimedia resources, the 300 inspectors will receive a Certificate of Aptitude for the Support of Preschool Pedagogical Practices (CAAPPP) .

Pierre-Yves Jeholet, for his part, recalled that the Wallonia-Brussels Federation has been supporting Morocco since 2000 in the structuring of preschool education and that the CAAPPP Program, launched in January 2021, is part of the Plan d action of the 7th Permanent Mixed Commission between our two Governments. He is also delighted with the international influence of the French-speaking Belgian educational model and the recognition of his expertise in Morocco.

“Digital and educational technologies largely integrate this training, since the inspectors will co-construct educational video capsules. These capsules are produced in the multimedia studios of the Academy of Casablanca-Settat and the Belgian School of Casablanca, equipped by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation ”, he added.

Note that the Kingdom of Morocco and the Wallonia-Brussels Federation began their diplomatic relations in 1999, with the opening of the Wallonia-Brussels General Delegation in Rabat.
