Message of condolences and compassion from the King to the family of the late Hajja El Hamdaouia

King Mohammed VI sent a message of condolence and compassion to the family of the late artist Hajja El Hamdaouia, who died Monday at the age of 91.

In this message, the Sovereign affirms to have learned with great emotion and deep sorrow the news of the death of the artist Hajja El Hamdaouia, may the Almighty grant him His Holy Mercy and welcome him to his vast paradise.

In this painful circumstance, the will of God being unstoppable, His Majesty expresses to the members of the deceased’s family and, through them, to her loved ones and fans, as well as to the national artistic family, His deep condolences and His sincere compassion following the disappearance of the icon of the art of Moroccan Aïta, who dedicated his life to the service of this ancestral popular musical genre that it has consolidated over the decades as a component of the national cultural heritage thanks to to its excellent performance, thus managing to charm generations of lovers of this authentic Moroccan art, and to raise it to the national and international levels.

Affirming to share the feelings of the family following this painful loss which afflicted the national artistic scene as a whole, the Sovereign says To remember with consideration the sincere feelings of love and loyalty that the deceased had for the glorious Alawite Throne, in addition to her fervent patriotism through the use of the art of Aïta, from an early age, as a means of resistance to colonialism, thus embodying its attachment to the constants of the Nation.

The King implores the Most High to grant the family of the late Hajja El Hamdaouia patience and comfort, and to amply reward the deceased for her great contribution to art and for the loyal services rendered to her homeland.
