CAS Casablanca missed the opportunity to qualify for the group stage of the African Football Confederation Cup (CAF), despite their victory Sunday night against Zambians Nkana FC (2-1) on the lawn of the Complex sportsman Mohammed V in Casablanca.
Defeated in the first leg (0-2), Abderrahim Taleb’s men could not have hoped for a better start to the match. From the 4th minute, Mahmoud Bentayg signed with a very nice goal from a free kick which left the Zambian goalkeeper no chance. In the 38th minute, the Casablancais managed to double the bet on a goal from Ayman Dairani’s header.
Back from the locker room, the Casablancais in search of a saving third goal, ended up conceding a goal from Simon Mulenga (57th) complicating the task of the Moroccans forced to register two other goals to hope for a qualification in the group stage of the African competition.
The CAS could have joined in the group stage the Renaissance of Berkane (exempt from this round) and the Raja of Casablanca who punched his ticket, this afternoon after having taken the best of the Tunisian formation, the US of Monastir ( 1-0, 5-6 tab).
