During the meeting, the two parties presented the work already carried out in the field of oceanographic research, exchanged the knowledge acquired and developed a common research program in the short, medium and long terms.
In a press statement, Ahmed Hammouch, director of scientific research and innovation at the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research said Morocco has the resources very important. Also, he underlined that scientific research is important for the preservation and the good exploitation of these resources. Thus, the meeting was an opportunity to unite the skills of universities to work in this field alongside the Royal Navy.
The president of the UAE, Bouchta El Moumni, for his part, indicated that the theme of this meeting is important for the socio-economic and strategic development of the country. At the same time, he recalled that the kingdom benefits from a coastline extending over more than 3,500 km of coastline, beneficial to the development of the kingdom and the well-being of its population.
However, the president of the UAE underlined that the marine domain in Morocco is little studied on the cartographic, geographical, biological, sedimentological and geophysical plans, important for its exploration and its exploitation in a sustainable way, since in this field, the research is carried out in isolation and fractional.
Thus, it is essential to set up a hard core, made up of researchers from the Royal Navy and the UAE, to unite national skills and jointly lead oceanographic research in Morocco.
