In Rabat, 3 minor children have just received their first electronic national identity card, 5 months after the adoption by the government of draft decree number 2.20.521, relating to the implementation of Law 04.02 on the CNIE.
“Quick and secure bridge” to digital services, to use the words of the Minister of the Interior, the new generation of identity cards meets advanced security standards and ensures great security for citizens. For children this feature is more than crucial at a time when crime is on the rise.
The Electronic National Identity Card is valid for 10 years for children over 12, and 7 years for children below this age. The draft decree also set the stamp fees for CNIEs under 12 at 50 dirhams instead of the current 75 dirhams.
