The Casablanca Stock Exchange closes in the red

Despite a start in the green, the Casablanca Stock Exchange closed the session Wednesday in withdrawal, penalized in particular by the poor performance of the sectors of participation and real estate promotion as well as of certain banking stocks.

Undecided since the start of the year, the Masi, a global index made up of all equity-type securities, dropped 0.31% to 11,262.09 points. The Morocco Stock Index 20 (MSI20) depreciated 0.43% to 919.89 and the Madex, a compact index made up of stocks quoted on the continuous market, lost 0.31% to 9,171.81 points.

On the international side, the FTSE CSE Morocco 15 fell 0.53% to 10,253.67 points and the FTSE Morocco All-Liquid fell 0.36% to 9,708.78 points.

The benchmark Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) “Casablanca ESG 10”, for its part, stood at 855.28 points (-0.43%).

At the end of this session, only 6 sectors of the 24 represented on the odds ended in the green. Thus, the index of “Engineering and Industrial Equipment” posted the largest increase of the day, carried by Delattre Levivier Morocco (+ 3.97%).

The “Leisure and Hotels” sector, represented by Risma, grew by 1.76%, while that of “Oil and Gas” gained 0.75%, following the good performance of Total Maroc (+1.9 %).

Among the increases of the day, also appear the sectors of “Real estate investment companies” (+ 0.75%), “Electricity” (+ 0.55%) and “Mines” (+ 0.53%) .

On the downside, the “Forestry and Paper” index showed the biggest drop on the day (-2.07%), followed by that of “Holding Companies” (-1.81%) and of “Electronic & Electrical Equipment” (-1.44%).

The index of “Real estate participation and promotion” fell by 0.80%, while that of “Hardware, software and IT services” dropped 0.73%.

At the level of “Banks” (-0.48%), the rise of BMCI (+ 1.59%), CIH (+ 1.56%) and Attijariwafa Bank (+ 0.01%) could not compensate the cuts in BCP (-1.99%), CDM (-1.83%) and Bank Of Africa (-0.43%).

Low, the overall volume of securities trading amounted to only 30.41 million dirhams (MDH), mainly carried out on the central market (Shares). By values, Sonasid drained 5.2 MDH, Attijariwafa Bank 3.17 MDH, Sodep Marsa Maroc 3.15 MDH and Itissalat Al-Maghrin (2.57 MDH).

Market capitalization, for its part, stood at nearly 583.4 billion dirhams (MMDH).

The biggest decreases were recorded by Ennakl (-2.17% to 26.1 DH), Med Paper (-2.07% to 13.73 DH), BCP (-1.99% to 244.05 DH) , CDM (-1.83% at 429 DH) and Delta Holding (-1.82% at 33.95 DH).

The largest increases were made by Delattre Levivier Maroc (+ 3.97% to 38.99 DH), M2M Group (+ 3.96% to 788 DH), Lesieur Cristal (+ 3.9% to 171.8 DH ), Cartier Saada (+ 1.98% to 29.37 DH) and AFMA (+ 1.92% to 1.112 DH).
