Five individuals were arrested on Wednesday by elements of the prefectural service of the Kenitra judicial police, who thus managed to abort an illegal emigration operation and to arrest the defendants for links with a criminal network active in the organization of illegal emigration and human trafficking.
Two of the suspects were arrested during a security operation in the “Fouarat” district in Kénitra, before searches and investigations led to the arrest of three other accomplices in the “Saleh Rachid” area, located on the outskirts of the city, says a press release from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN).
He added that 41 candidates for illegal emigration were also arrested, including three women, a minor and a citizen of Arab nationality, apprehended inside a random dwelling in this area. .
The search carried out in connection with this case led to the seizure of a light car, a scooter, a marine engine and life jackets, in addition to a list of candidates for illegal emigration and sums paid to the organizers, in addition to seven jerry cans of 300 liters of fuel and a sum of money of 20,000 dirhams suspected of coming from this criminal activity.
The five suspects, aged between 19 and 58, and the candidates for illegal immigration were subjected to a judicial investigation carried out under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office in order to elucidate the ins and outs of this case and to identify all the ramifications and possible links of this criminal network.
