With the onset of winter, and the arrival of very cold waves, several regions of the Kingdom, particularly remote or mountainous, have activated “plans to fight against the cold”. This is the case in Midelt, Zagora, El Hajeb, Guercif, Sefrou, Jerada, Taza or even Chichaoua.
In this context, provincial watch committees have held dedicated meetings to decide on the measures to be implemented to help local populations cope with the repercussions of the cold snap, snowfall and precipitation, but also to be able to intervene, in time and efficiently, in the event of exceptional weather events.
In addition to the supply of food baskets, blankets, firewood, and accommodation for the homeless, operations to open roads and tracks in the event of snowfall, are planned with the provision of logistical means and humans needed for this.
In addition, medical caravans for the populations of the localities most vulnerable to the cold snap.
It should be noted that due to the circumstances related to the Covid-19 pandemic, the choice was made to organize small caravans targeting the categories most vulnerable to the effects of the cold snap, in particular pregnant women, the sick chronic and children.
