Tangier: DGSN and DEA cooperate to defeat attempt to smuggle 35 kg of pure cocaine

The services of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) thwarted, Tuesday in close cooperation with the American Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), an attempt to traffic 35 kg of pure cocaine from a country of Latin America and to Asian countries.

This operation, carried out on the ground by the national security services and the elements of the Tangier customs, is part of the active cooperation relations between the Moroccan security services and their American counterparts, in various fields, in particular that of of the fight against cross-border crime and illegal trafficking in drugs and psychotropic drugs, indicates a press release from the DGSN.

The samples of the seized drug were submitted to the forensic science laboratory under the Forensic Sciences Institute of the National Security to undergo the necessary technical expertise to analyze the degree of purity of the cocaine, adds the DGSN, specifying that an investigation was opened by the judicial police under the supervision of the competent prosecutor’s office to identify all the accomplices involved in this affair and determine its regional and international ramifications as well as its links with international cocaine trafficking networks.
