An operation to smuggle 19,200 psychotropic tablets aborted in Tanger Med

A traffic operation of 19,200 psychotropic tablets of the “Rivotril” type arrived on the national territory aboard an international freight transport truck, was aborted on Friday by the elements of national security operating at the port of Tangier-Med.

A press release from the Directorate General of National Security (DGSN) specifies that the control operations carried out on the seized lorry, as soon as it arrived on board a maritime link from Spain, allowed the seizure of the psychotropic tablets which were carefully hidden in the cab of the truck, and the arrest of a 41-year-old Moroccan.

The search of the truck, adds the same source, allowed the seizure of large sums of money in European currency, in addition to ten mobile phones whose source and circumstances of traffic are being identified.

The respondent was placed in police custody at the disposal of the investigation conducted by the judicial police brigade of the Tanger Med port district, under the supervision of the competent public prosecutor’s office, with a view to arresting all persons involved in this case and to define the possible ramifications of this criminal activity, both nationally and internationally.
