Cristiano Ronaldo will miss Juventus’ Champions League game against Barcelona on Wednesday after testing positive for coronavirus once again.
Fans of Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi will still have to wait for the reunion of the two football superstars. Indeed, the Portugal international has been self-isolating since testing positive for the virus while on an international mission with Portugal this month.
The 35-year-old was hoping to be part of Juve’s Group G game against Barca on Wednesday, which means a chance to take on Lionel Messi again, but needed a negative test 24 hours before the kick-off dispatch to Turin. The latter is not one of the players summoned by Pirlo.
Ronaldo has not played for the Serie A club since a 2-2 draw with Roma in late September. The former Real Madrid player, who has been Juve’s top scorer for the past two seasons, has experienced a fierce rivalry with Messi on the pitch during his time in La Liga.
In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Ronaldo said he “ felt good and healthy ”. In a second message, which was later deleted, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner questioned the veracity of the pre-match coronavirus tests.
