Remote trial: 387 hearings from September 7 to 11

A total of 387 hearings were held remotely in the various courts of the Kingdom, from September 7 to 11, during which 7,575 cases were scheduled, said the Superior Council of the Judiciary (CSPJ).

According to a press release from the Council, a total of 8,922 detainees benefited from remote trials during the same period, after their consent, in order to spare them all health risks in this exceptional situation, marked by the spread of the coronavirus.

The various courts of the Kingdom achieved important results during the second week of September, said the Council, adding that it worked with all the partners to establish the balance between the right to a fair trial within a reasonable timeframe and the duty of the courts to continue to fulfill their constitutional and human rights obligations and functions, in accordance with the health and precautionary measures taken.

Faced with the evolution of the epidemiological situation and the increase in the number of cases, the Superior Council of the Judiciary called for intensifying efforts and mobilizing all means and capacities in strict compliance with all preventive measures and precautionary measures required in the various judicial establishments.
