Morocco recorded on Tuesday, September 15, 2,121 cases carrying the coronavirus, exceeding the bar of 90,000 cases since the start of the epidemic in Morocco in March.
Indeed, with this new record of infections, the kingdom has increased to 90,324 infections since the declaration of the first cases, thus bringing to 248.7 people tested positive for the coronavirus for every 100,000 inhabitants.
In terms of positive and active cases, the number of which has reached 17,619 cases, the representation rate in relation to the population is 48.5 cases per 100,000 inhabitants. And, over the past 24 hours, the rate has nestled at 5.8 new infections for every 100,000 people.
As for the geographical distribution of cases recorded Tuesday, it is the region of Casablanca-Settat which remains in the lead with 924 total cases including 703 identified in Casablanca, 118 in Settat, 26 in El Jadida, 23 in Mediouna, 18 in Mohammedia, 17 in Nouaceur, 15 in Berrechid, 2 in Sidi Bennour and 2 cases in Benslimane.
The region of Rabat-Salé-Kénitra follows, with 245 new infections. The most affected city in the region is Salé with 66 cases followed by Skhirat-Témara with 62 cases. The day before the region’s contaminations, Kenitra displayed 40 cases on Tuesday, 24 in Khemisset, 24 in Rabat, 24 in Sidi Kacem and 5 in Sidi Slimane.
Close reports for the regions of Marrakech-Safi (163 new cases) and Souss-Massa (150 new cases). They break down as follows for Marrakech Safi: 85 cases in Marrakech, 59 in Kelaa des Sraghna, 13 in Youssoufia, 3 in Essaouira and 3 in the province of Rhamna. And 84 cases in Agadir Ida Ou Tanane, 38 in Inzegane Aït Melloul, 18 in Chtouka Aït Baha and 10 in Taroudant for Souss Massa.
Still in the category of regions having recorded a toll of over 100 cases in 24 hours, Beni Mellal-Khénifra totaled 143 new covid-19 contaminations, including 40 in Khénifra, 39 in Khouribga, 34 in Beni Mellal, 25 in Fqih Bensaleh and 5 in Azilal. And the Drâa-Tafilalet region recorded 108 new infections: 53 in Tinghir, 20 in Errachidia, 14 in Midelt, 14 in Ouarzazate and 7 in Zagora.
The rest of the regions recorded less than 100 cases, especially in the Oriental with 79 cases distributed between Oujda-Angad 46 cases, 13 in Taourirt, 6 in Nador, 6 in Figuig, 5 in Berkane, 1 in Jerada and 1 in Dirouch . Fès-Meknes has identified 68 new cases including 26 in Fez, 25 in Meknes, 10 in Sefrou, 4 in Taza and 3 El Hajeb.
Finally, the region of Dakhla-Oued Ed-Dahab shows 49 new infections all in Oued Ed-Dahab and 44 cases for Laâyoune-Sakia El Hamra where 42 cases have been identified in Laâyoune and 2 in Tarfaya. As for Guelmim-Oued Noun 14 cases were recorded in Assa Zag, 10 in Guelmim, 1 in Tan Tan and 1 in Sidi Ifni for a total of 26 new cases
